Shapes and Vector

Image
Below are three pictures that I learned how to make in Adobe Illustrator. The first picture with the eye logo I learned how to make our of basic shapes. I learned how to use the shape builder tool, where I combined two circles and deleted some parts with the tool to create the shape of the eyeball. I did the same to create the moon shape inside of the eye ball.  The second picture I learned how to create vector artwork. I started out with a basic sketch that I did on pencil and paper. Then I took a picture and opened the file on Adobe Illustrator. Next, I learned how to use the image trace tool and expanded the picture to add a preset trace option. For this image I chose the Sketch option. Next, I used the lasso tool to outline just the image and I grouped it together and then deleted the other parts of the image that I did not want.  For the last picture I learned how to create with the shape tool. I learned to make perfect circles and shapes by using the "shift" key while c...

Pen Tool Tutorial

Image
For this tutorial I learned a little bit about how to use the pen tool in Adobe Illustrator. I learned how to create straight lines (first picture below), how to curve lines (second picture), and how to change the direction of curved lines (third picture).

Illustrator Tutorial

Image
For these two photos I used Adobe Illustrator. On the first picture I followed the tutorial to create the butterfly. To create the butterfly I used the brush and pencil tool to create a path and edit it to my liking. For the second photo I just created a little doodle to experiment with the Illustrator tools. I used the shape tools and adjusted the gradient to fill the stars and the moon. Then I added text to fit the scenery and chose a blue color to contrast the stars.

Banner and Text Bubbles

Image
I chose these two photos that I've taken with my phone camera and edited them in photoshop. The first photo with text bubbles I wanted to express what these two people would be thinking in this moment. In photoshop I used text bubbles in Legacy Shapes. Then I added my texts and centered them within the bubbles.      The second photo is a banner. I had to think of something to advertise so I made up a fake photography company. I chose the name "Sunset Photography" since the sun was setting in the background of the photo. I used the sun shape within the Legacy shapes and added an outer glow along with a Satin effect to it. I did the same for the texts. What I struggled with the most is making the text and sun shape stand out from the background, and making it easy to see for the eye.

Famous Graphic Designer

Image
From the two  pdf’s sent to us, I chose Maurice Binder to learn more about. Binder began his journey with Graphic design in the 1950s, starting with directing two short films before his debut with the James Bond films. His work was shown on 16 James Bond title sequences where he created his most famous “gun barrel” scene. Binder passed away at the age of 72 in 1991, leaving behind a legacy with the James Bond films. Maurice Binder’s work shows a famous repetition with women in his Bond Movies. His designs also seem to have a conceptual meaning behind all of them, and most generally relates to the movie titles.

Instagram Posts

Image
I created two Instagram posts. The first is an Instagram post to advertise the school-wide zoom meeting on community inclusion from last week. While I attended the zoom meeting I took a few screenshots and added them into the Instagram post I created. I started out with a template on Canva and changed the colors, fonts, pictures, and the texts. I also added some “squiggle” elements to it.  The second Instagram post I created is a fake advertisement for a freelancing graphic design business for myself. I picked this because it might give me more inspiration in creating an actual one if I do decide to pursue graphic design in the future. For this one I used a template as well. I kept the Polaroid border for my image and added different texts and fonts. I also added more of the original stickers that were on the and changed the colors of them. I also changed the color scheme of the background to match my image better.

Areas of Graphic Design

Image
For the assignment in my graphic design class we were asked to analyze and choose what field of graphic design that interests us the most.  I think I would like to go into advertising with graphic design. I have 3 examples of what types of advertising I’d like to do which are packaging, creating movie posters, and creating regular advertisement posters and/or online ads. I think the coolest thing out of these three would be making movie posters, but that’s probably a hard job to get so I’ll have other things to start with as I work my way up to it. Below are the inspiration pictures I found on the internet.
